About Andy Halvorsen
Faith, family, and stories worth carrying with you.
I grew up reading Louis L'Amour and watching The Rifleman and Gene Autry. I loved the adventure, but I also loved what those stories asked of their characters: courage when the road got hard, kindness when it cost something, and the choice to do right when nobody was watching.
For years, I kept ideas for my own Western adventures in the notes on my phone. Characters, scraps of dialogue, and places I wanted to visit on the page slowly collected there. As I began developing Quiet Path and writing devotions, I found the confidence to bring those ideas together.
The Shepherd of Stillwater grew out of that journey. Inspired by Psalm 23, it follows a young ranch hand learning to accept the care he needs and offer that same care to others. I wanted to write a Western with danger, grit, and heart—a story where the truth of the gospel could be felt in the lives of the characters.
My faith in Jesus is at the center of my writing. So is my desire to be a good husband and father. Those commitments shape the questions I return to: How do we find peace in uncertainty? What does grace look like between imperfect people? How do we help the people we love feel safe and know they belong?
Through Quiet Path's devotions and the stories of Quiet Path Press, I hope to give readers room to breathe, something to think about, and encouragement to trust God with the next step.
I live in Livermore, California, with my wife, Tina, and our four children. Alongside writing, I run an IT business and enjoy cooking barbecue. Faith, family, work, and the everyday moments between them continue to give me plenty to write about.
I'm glad you're here. I hope these stories bring you adventure, joy, and peace—and stay with you after the last page.
