Focus: Christ’s resurrection is the foundation of our hope, and our labor in Him has lasting meaning. — 1 Corinthians 15:57–58

Key truth: We can offer what we have and trust God with what grows.

Listening connections: “Grave Robber,” followed by “Not by Sight.”

Devotion

A song about resurrection can reach us differently as the years pass. When we are young, we may understand the words without grasping how much we will need their hope. Over time, loss and the passing of years make us listen more closely.

“Grave Robber” draws attention to the promise at the heart of Christian hope: Jesus has risen, and those who belong to Him will share in resurrection life.

First Corinthians 15 does not make death seem harmless. Paul calls death an enemy. Grief is a fitting response to the loss of someone we love. Faith gives us room to mourn and a promise to hold while we do.

Paul grounds that promise in Christ’s resurrection. Jesus is the beginning of the harvest to come. Death will finally be defeated. The future God promises includes the redemption of our embodied lives.

Then Paul makes a connection that matters for today. Because resurrection is real, believers can remain steadfast in the work of the Lord. Our care, service, and faithfulness have meaning in Him, even when the results are difficult to see.

That brings me back to the boy listening to Petra. The people who wrote and recorded those songs could not have known every listener or every moment when their words would be remembered. Yet here I am, more than forty years later, opening my Bible with gratitude for what they helped plant.

Psalm 78 calls God’s people to tell the next generation about His works so that they, too, will put their trust in Him. Each of us has some part in that work. A conversation, a prayer, a song, or an example of patient love may give another person truth they will carry for years.

We do not get to see the whole effect of a faithful life. We can offer what we have and trust God with what grows.

I am grateful for the songs that helped me remember. Now I want to live the truth they taught me—and help someone else learn to trust the same faithful Savior.

Reflection

What truth about Jesus do you hope the people who know you will carry into their future?

Practice the path

Share one Scripture passage with someone, along with a simple explanation of why it matters to you. Give them a piece of your testimony without pressuring them to respond.

Prayer

Risen Jesus, thank You for the hope of resurrection. Meet us in our grief and strengthen us in the work of love. Thank You for everyone who helped plant Your Word in us. Make us faithful in passing that gift to others. Amen.

Thank you for walking through Written on My Heart with me this week. Together we have considered the Word God plants in us, faith for the unseen road, the belonging that changes us, the life we build, and the hope that grows deeper in Christ. Keep one verse from this week close, and let it go with you into the days ahead.
