He Was Crushed

Our repentance does not begin with our crushing.

It begins with His.

“He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities.”

—Isaiah 53:5

Jesus bore what our sin deserved.

That truth keeps contrition from becoming self-punishment. We do not crush ourselves to earn forgiveness. We come honestly before God because Christ has already carried our guilt.

At the cross, we see both the terrible weight of sin and the immeasurable depth of mercy.

Repentance is our answer to a crushing He bore for us.
